Rotary Club Honors Students Of The Month

Avery Groff and Colin Rost, seniors at Penn Manor High School, have been selected as Lancaster South Rotary Club's Students of the Month for March. They were presented to the club by Baron Jones, principal of Penn Manor High School. Students of the Month are selected on the basis of academic excellence as well as school and community service.

Avery is the daughter of Brad and Brenda Groff of Lancaster. She has consistently earned honor roll recognition, and she received the Advanced Placement Scholar Award. Avery serves as treasurer in the National Honor Society, co-chairperson of the Penn Manor Fall Fest, a Student Ambassador, an after-school intervention tutor and an elementary tutor. Avery was a four-year member of the varsity swim team, where she served as captain her senior year and was named a Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star. She is also a member of the York YMCA swim team. Avery is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Comet Nation, and she was a member of the 2021 homecoming court. In the community, Avery volunteers at the Water Street Mission, Penn Manor Family Fund, York YMCA, The Loft Community Partnership and Elementary Read-A-Thon. Following graduation, Avery plans to attend the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina to double major in finance and economics. Avery aspires to become the chief financial officer of a large corporation.

Colin is the son of Jason and Kristyn Rost of Millersville. He is a member of the Thespian Club, Manor Singers and Vocal Jazz and has participated in the fall plays and spring musicals. In 2021, Colin was named to the Pennsylvania Thespian Hall of Fame. He is an Eagle Scout and restored a graveyard in Safe Harbor for his Eagle Scout project; he continues to be active in Boy Scouts. In the community, Colin volunteers at LCBC Church. Following graduation, Colin plans to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.
