Rotary Club announces name change

The Rotary Club of New Holland announced that it has officially changed its name to the Rotary Club of Eastern Lancaster County. The name change was approved from the club's local district, District 7390, and Rotary International.

Intending to reflect its true service area, which extends beyond the New Holland borough, the club believes the new name will appeal to a wider audience as it begins to explore ways to grow its membership.

According to club president Trevor Reed, the New Holland club was originally chartered in 1944 and has a rich history in the community. He said that the name change is not meant to dishonor the service of the original club members. Rather, the current membership acknowledges their service and believes its predecessors would approve of the name change as part of an effort to remain relevant to the community.

The Rotary Club of Eastern Lancaster County is actively looking for fresh ideas and new opportunities to serve the community. Anyone who is interested in making a difference in and around the ELANCO community is encouraged to visit the club and explore ways to put those ideas into action.

Regular meetings are held on Thursdays at 7:30 a.m. at Yoder's Restaurant, 14 S. Tower Road, New Holland. Individuals can call 717-517-1727 or email ELANCO.Rotary@gmail.com to let the club know of their interest in visiting.
