FIRST Robotics Team 2539, the Krypton Cougars, recently won the Hatboro-Horsham competition for the third year in a row. The event, the first of two district qualifying events, was the team's debut performance for the 2024 season and presented the first opportunity to showcase its new robot, Rhapsody, along with its strategies for the 2024 FIRST Robotics Competition game, Crescendo.

Team 2539 competed against 32 other teams from the mid-Atlantic region at the Hatboro-Horsham event. Team 2539 won its first six qualification matches and finished the first day ranked No. 1 with seven wins to one loss. On the second day, the competition intensified as teams fought for ranking position and a shot to be in the playoff tournament that afternoon. Team 2539 finished the second day with three more wins against one loss to finish 10-2 overall and remain ranked No. 1. This achievement earned the Krypton Cougars the No. 1 alliance captain and the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

During alliance selection, Team 2539 chose Team 5895, Peddie Robotics, and Team 2097, PATH to Domination, to join it for the playoffs. The Krypton Cougars won each of its games in the double-elimination tournament leading up to the finals, where it faced an alliance led by the No. 2 ranked alliance captain. The Krypton Cougars swept the best-of-three finals series to win the competition and secure a 15-2 overall record.

Team 2539 also won the FIRST Engineering Inspiration award, which celebrates the team with the most outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within its organization, school, and community.

The Krypton Cougars' second competition of the season was held from March 15 to 17 at Springside-Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia. Team 2539 competed against 28 other teams in their district. The Krypton Cougars started the event with a 6-2 record in the team's first eight qualification matches, putting the team on track to enter the playoffs as the sixth ranked alliance captain. However, it won its last two matches in dramatic fashion, obtaining enough ranking points to surpass all other teams and obtain the No. 1 seed in the tournament. During alliance selection, Team 2539 used its first overall selection to form an alliance with teams 341 and 5407 in the playoffs. There, the Krypton Cougars again went 3-0 in the double-elimination tournament to reach the finals, where the team faced the fifth ranked alliance. Team 2539's alliance swept the best-of-three series to claim their second consecutive win at Springside-Chestnut Hill and achieve a 15-2 overall record.

With its results at the Hatboro-Horsham event, Team 2539 earned a spot in the Mid-Atlantic District Championship, which was held at Lehigh University from April 4 to 6. In this event, Team 2539 placed in the top half of the field of more than 60 teams; the team was picked fourth overall during the alliance selection process. During the double-elimination playoff tournament, the Krypton Cougars ended the competition as semifinalists, where their alliance was defeated by the eventual district champions. Team 2539 also received the Creativity Award for designing new strategies that enhanced the quality of competition play.

Team 2539 is preparing to cap off its season at the FIRST World Championship in Houston from Wednesday to Saturday, April 17 to 20. The competition will feature 600 of the world's top FRC teams participating in the highest levels of robotics. Last year, Team 2539 attained a 12-4 record and finished as a finalist in its division.

In addition to their competition victories, the Krypton Cougars achieved other successes outside of the robotics arena. Team 2539 won the Quality Award, which recognizes teams that exemplify robustness in machine concept and execution. Team member Anshi Paul won a FIRST Dean's List Award, a scholarship that honors student leaders who have led their teams and communities to increased awareness for FIRST and its mission.
