Races Will Benefit Bridlepath

The races are on.

Bridlepath Equine Center will hold its third annual Race Day Fundraiser on Saturday, June 13, at 787 Valley Road, Quarryville.

The event will begin with 5K and 10K trail runs, which will get underway at 8:30 a.m. A pet-friendly mile walk will start at 10:15 a.m., followed by the Kids' Giddy-Up Run for ages 2 to 8 at 11 a.m. There will be tours at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and noon, and a chicken barbecue meal will be available from 10 a.m. until sold out.

"Our third annual Race Day Fundraiser is a family-friendly event with an activity for everyone," said Bridlepath's founder and executive director Danielle Swope. "New this year, we are offering guided tours through our facility to share more about the services we offer. Your support and participation is greatly appreciated."

Bridlepath is partnering with Pretzel City Sports. To register, go to https://tinyurl.com/pretzel-city-sports. People who register for the trail runs and walk by Friday, May 15, will pay a reduced rate and are guaranteed a race T-shirt. Registrations will be accepted up to the day of the races.

Proceeds from this event go to the nonprofit group's Therapeutic Horsemanship Program, which serves individuals with disabilities and people from at-risk populations.

Swope is grateful for the Race Days supporters, including platinum sponsor EDS Logistics; gold sponsors Denlinger Fisher Builders, McCreesh Contracting, Stoltzfus Meats, and Summers & Zims Inc.; and the silver and bronze sponsors.

"Thank you to the community and sponsors for helping make this event so successful," she said. "Because of your support, we are able to continue serving individuals with disabilities through therapeutic horsemanship and riding. Our incredible participants have so much to be proud of, and your support plays a huge part in the smiles and successes they get to experience week after week."

The center offers weekly participant sessions, as well as specialized group programs. The weekly participant wait list is estimated to be about two years. "We are looking to grow our staff and horse herd to help meet the needs of the wait list, which wouldn't be possible without the support of our community through donations, sponsorships and event participation, such as the Bridlepath Race Day Fundraiser," Swope said. "Our current specialized group programs include: Hoofbeat Haven, a cancer support group for young adult and pediatric patients and survivors; Unbridled Courage, a support group for adoptive and foster care families of children with disabilities; drill team; and an Adult With Disabilities program.
