Public Starwatch Set At Observatory

The York County Astronomical Society (YCAS) will offer a public Starwatch at its observatory at John C. Rudy County Park, 400 Mundis Race Road, York, on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 8 to 10 p.m.

The event will begin with a screened presentation on current astronomical events and the November night sky. Guests will then be guided on a tour of the sky through one of the club's telescopes. Attendees will be shown a host of celestial objects, including the planets Saturn and Jupiter, the Hercules star clusters, and the Ring Nebula.

Anyone who has a telescope and is unsure how to use it may bring the telescope to the event to receive assistance.

If the sky is clear, all activities will occur as scheduled. If it is completely cloudy or raining, the indoor activity of a screen astronomical presentation will occur as scheduled. In the event of extreme weather, call 717-759-YCAS (9227) or search for "York County Astronomical Society (YCAS)" on Facebook for notice of cancellation.

While this event is free and open to the public, donations will be accepted to help YCAS to continue bringing astronomical events to York County and surrounding areas.
