Program to focus on President Lincoln

The Harrisburg Civil War Round Table will meet on Friday, Dec. 8, at the Central Penn College Conference Center, 600 Valley Road, Summerdale. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and a buffet dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m. Anyone who wishes to attend the lecture only should arrive by 7 p.m. The lecture will also be broadcast via Zoom.

James Hayney, a Camp Hill resident and professional actor who has spent much of the last two decades portraying President Abraham Lincoln, will speak on "Lincoln's Love of Pennsylvania." Topics will include Lincoln's Quaker family roots in Pennsylvania, his travels in the state, the role Pennsylvania played in helping him win the Republican Party's nomination for president in 1860, and his admiration for how the commonwealth helped to bring the Civil War to a conclusion. He will draw on his many years of Lincoln scholarship to answer questions from the audience at the end of his presentation, and he will pose for individual and group holiday photos with attendees.

The lecture is free. There is a fee for the dinner, payable at the door; however, anyone wishing to attend the dinner should make reservations by Monday, Dec. 4, by contacting Brian Foster at hcwrt.membership@gmail.com or 717-962-6122.
