Program to focus on charitable food system

Winters Heritage House Museum will host Elizabethtown College student Olivia Morrison on Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the HU Coble House, 33 E. High St., Elizabethtown. The event is associated with a monthlong food drive to collect contributions for the Community Cupboard, a local food pantry in Elizabethtown.

As part of the Conversation E-town lecture series, Morrison will expand on a summer research project she conducted by detailing the history of the charitable system in the United States and Elizabethtown. In addition to discussing the history of the charitable food system, she will explain how members of the public can be more conscientious donors and volunteers.

Morrison is a junior sociology major at Elizabethtown College and the secretary of the Elizabethtown College Chapter of Food Recovery Network (FRN). She has spoken at the Mid-Atlantic Undergraduate Research Symposium, the Landmark Symposium, and Scholarship and Creative Arts Day at Elizabethtown College.

The program is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested by calling the museum at 717-367-4672 or emailing winters-hh@elizabethtownhistory.org.

Both free and metered parking are located behind the building, with additional municipal parking located beyond Mechanics Alley.
