Program To Discuss Doc Holliday

The Mount Joy Area Historical Society will host David Manuel as the guest speaker at its monthly meeting to be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, at the Cemetery Road Schoolhouse, 120 Fairview St., Mount Joy.

Manuel will continue his discussion from March about John H. Holliday's metamorphosis to Doc Holliday, a legend of the old West. Manuel, in the persona of Doc Holliday, will trace Doc's life, including his arrival in Tombstone, his involvement in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral, his companionship with Wyatt Earp on the Vendetta Ride, and his declining health and eventual death.

Manuel, born and raised in Columbia, resides in Mountville. He has been a member of Toastmasters International since 1996 and is part of the Susquehanna Speakers Association.

The Mount Joy Area Historical Society is open to the public every Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. The public is invited to stop by to do research and see the many displays of Mount Joy memorabilia. For more information, visit http://www.mountjoyhistory.com.
