Preschool opens enrollment, posts event

Great Beginnings Preschool, located within First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, 101 S. Decatur St., has opened enrollment for the 2024-25 school year.

The preschool offers a 2-year-old program on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays, a 3-year-old program on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and morning or afternoon prekindergarten programs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. All morning classes are held from 9 to 11:30 a.m., and the afternoon classes run from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Heather Reynolds is the administrative director of Great Beginnings Preschool. One of the school's 3-year-old classes visited Willow Valley Communities to serenade residents with Christmas songs in mid-December.

First Presbyterian Church will celebrate its annual Preschool Sunday as well as Souper Bowl Sunday on Feb. 11. In advance of Preschool Sunday, all preschool students will prepare music praising God. This year, the 11 a.m. contemporary service will feature two songs performed by the children: "Jesus Died for All the Children" and the "Hippo Song." All preschool families are invited to attend the worship service.

On Souper Bowl Sunday, the church's youths will gather canned goods and monetary donations to assist the church's food bank, which provides more than 100 bags of food to the community every month. The church is also starting to gather laundered clothing and shoes to continue its community support.
