Portales finishes 3rd in District 3A tourney

- photos by Cheri Sine Garden Spot’s Diego Portales copped a bronze medal in the 133-pound weight class at the Class AAA sectional at Governor Mifflin on Saturday, February 17. Along the way, Portales pinned Lebanon’s Wyatt Clawser at the 1:32 mark.
- Jarrett Lynch of Garden Spot controls the leg of Isaac Eidle of Wilson during action in the 114-pound weight class at the Class AAA sectional at Governor Mifflin on Saturday, February 17. Lynch, who pinned Eidle at the 1:42 mark, finished sixth at 114.
- Garden Spot’s Zach Miller works hard on top in an effort to control Nolan Steiner of Cocalico during their bout in the Class AAA sectional at Governor Mifflin on Saturday, February 17. Miller, who decked Steiner at 3:43, brought home sixth-place hardware in the 215-pound weight class.
- Jayden Redcay of Garden Spot controls the ankle of Cocalico’s Dane Bollinger during 172-pound action at the Class AAA sectional at Governor Mifflin on Saturday, February 17. Redcay edged Bollinger 6-5, before finishing fifth in his weight class.
- The Spartans’ Matthew Casey tries to break down Reading’s Quesean Dowell during their 121-pound bout at the Class AAA sectional at Governor Mifflin on Saturday, February 17. Casey decked Dowell at 3:36, then claimed a sixth-place medal.
- Hunter Fry of Garden Spot locks up with Reading’s Carlos Fernandez during action in the 285-pound weight class at the Class AAA sectional at Governor Mifflin on Saturday, February 17. Fry scored a 5-0 shutout in the bout.
