Planting Party Set at Homefields

Homefields Care Farm, 150 Letort Road, Millersville, will hold a planting party on Tuesday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will help Homefields to start its crops and prepare the soil for the growing season.

Tasks may include seeding plants in the greenhouse, transplanting and direct seeding in the open fields, and weeding, tilling, and raking the beds. No previous planting experience is required.

Participants should come prepared for sun or light rain. Homefields recommends wearing sturdy shoes - specifically boots due to muddy or uneven ground - as well as a hat and sunglasses. Attendees are encouraged to bring a rain jacket. Homefields will provide gloves, sunscreen, and bug spray.

If heavy storms are in the forecast, Homefields will contact volunteers to cancel or reschedule.

There is no fee to participate. For more information and to sign up, visit http://www.homefields.org/events. Information is also available by calling 717-572-2719 or emailing info@homefields.org.
