Pickleball tournament to aid DSAA

The fourth annual Nick Hershey Memorial Pickleball Tournament to benefit Donegal Substance Abuse Alliance (DSAA) will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Due to the growth of the tournament, it is moving from the Hershey farm to the tennis courts at Donegal High School (DHS), 1025 Koser Road, Mount Joy. The new venue will offer 20 pickleball courts.

The tournament started in 2021 in honor of DHS graduate Nicholas Hershey, Class of 2012. The tournament grew to more than 50 players in 2023, and participants ranged in age from 14 to 65. The 2023 Nick Hershey Tournament raised $15,000 through the donations of participants and businesses.

This year's format will include round robin men's and women's groups A and B. Group A is for intermediate and advanced players, and group B is for intermediate players. Every player is guaranteed seven full games with normal scoring. Food and drinks will be available.

There is a fee per player. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit DSAA. Stacy Emminger, executive director, and her team at DSAA offer supportive approaches to addiction by educating, equipping, and supporting individuals, families and communities. DSAA focuses on prevention, family support, and support to those living in recovery. To learn more, visit http://www.dsasquared.org.
