Pet adoption event set

Humane Pennsylvania is offering fee-waived pet adoptions as part of its annual sponsored "12 Days of Adoptions" event, during which the organization hopes to find a home for every shelter pet in its care. Through Sunday, Dec. 24, adoption fees will be waived for potential adopters looking to bring a shelter pet home for the holidays. The adoption event will take place at both the Lancaster Center for Animal Life-Saving, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, and the Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving, 1801 N. 11th St., Reading. Adoption hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, adoption hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Prospective adopters are encouraged to visit the shelter campuses or http://www.humanepa.org. All potential adopters are required to go through Humane Pennsylvania's adoption screening process, and approval is not guaranteed.

Adoptions include Humane Pennsylvania's 30-day Adoption Health Supplement; spaying or neutering prior to adoption; vaccinations, including rabies vaccination, and de-worming medication; flea treatment; microchipping and chip registration; and a free, 1-pound bag of Science Diet pet food.
