PCA&D Plans Workshop For Educators

After a year of rapidly changing demands in the field of education, Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCA&D) will host a free, online workshop for educators at both the kindergarten through 12th-grade level and the college level. Under the direction of PCA&D's Center for Teaching & Learning, the event will take place on Thursday and Friday, June 17 and 18, and will feature speakers who are experts in the field of adapting instruction for neurodiverse learners and varied learning styles and in supporting the mental and physical well-being of students.

Presenters will include Ellie Cochran, PCA&D Center for Creative Exploration faculty member, speaking on "Using Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) To Stream Live Content"; Amy Faust, Franklin & Marshall College learning specialist, speaking on "Demystifying the Learner: Neurodiversity, Executive Function, and Learning Interference"; Wynne Kinder, educator, author and owner of Wellness Works in Schools, speaking on "Mindful Practices for Well-Being"; Courtney Plotts, national chair of the Council for At Risk Student Education and Professional Standards, speaking on "Using Culture and Understanding as an Accommodation; Tiered Systems of Teaching Intervention"; and Debbie Ribera, educator, therapist, and nonprofit CEO from California State University Los Angeles, speaking on "Fostering Mental Wellness in the Classroom."

This virtual event is open to all educators. It will include online demonstrations, workshops, and time for participant discussion and questions. The aim is to create opportunities not only for instruction, but also for conversation and collective, creative problem-solving.
