Parkesburg Lions Club plans Easter events, spaghetti dinner

Members of the Parkesburg Lions Club will host Easter events for the community on Saturday, April 12, as well as a spaghetti dinner later in the month.

The club's third annual Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will take place at the Parkesburg Baptist Church, 103 West St., Parkesburg, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Breakfast, which will be prepared on-site by Lions Club members, will include pancakes; breakfast meat; eggs; and beverages, including coffee, tea and water. There will be separate prices for adults and children ages 2 to 9. Children under age 2 will be able to eat for free. The Easter Bunny will be on hand and available for pictures.

Organizers are requesting that attendees make reservations for the breakfast. To register, contact either Karen Fronefield at 484-678-4231 or Karen Holmes at 717-380-3098 or send a message on the "Parkesburg Lions Club - New and Improved" Facebook page.

Cash, check and Venmo will be accepted for payment. The registration deadline is Monday, April 7.

The Lions Club will also present Easter egg hunts the same day in Minch Park, 111 West St., Parkesburg. Egg hunts for children ages 6 to 8 and 9 to 12 will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by egg hunts for younger children age 2 and under and ages 3 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. Attendees should bring baskets or bags to collect eggs. Registration is not required.

Children will be hunting for eggs that will be hidden by volunteers throughout the park. "We hide around 1,000 plastic eggs," noted Robin McKenna, Lions Club president. "Most (eggs) have candy, but some have little toys or papers to redeem for a book or toy. We will also have one special (prize) egg per age group."

Following the Easter events, the Lions Club is planning to host a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, April 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Parkesburg Baptist Church. The menu will include spaghetti, meatballs, garlic bread, salad, a drink and dessert.

A cost will be charged per person. All money raised from the event will go to help a local resident in need.

The Parkesburg Lions Club is always looking for new members. Prospective members are invited to attend a club meeting. Meetings are generally held on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at Parkesburg Baptist Church. When meetings are held at different locations, information is posted on the Facebook page.
