Paramount Senior Living will host car show

Head to Paramount Senior Living, 2760 Maytown Road, Maytown, on Wednesday, July 17, for a car show to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Registration will begin at 5 p.m., and the event will start at 6 p.m.

"We love to host community events where the whole family can come out to do something fun together," said Cindy Wivell, marketing manager for Paramount Senior Living. "Paramount has held car shows here in the past, but this will be the first one in a long time."

Any type of car is eligible to participate in the show. "This event is for the enjoyment of our residents that were primarily born in the late '20s to the '40s, so antiques will be appreciated by many of them," Wivell shared. "However, the more cars that enter, the more enjoyable the event will be for everyone. We are offering trophies and bragging rights for Best Car, Best Truck, Best Paint, Resident Choice and People's Choice."

Registration of a car is by donation, and the public is invited to attend the event for free. Hand-dipped ice cream will be offered alongside a make-your-own sundae bar.

"Attendees are also encouraged to come hungry and patronize the local food Spud Muffin truck that will be on-site," Wivell said. "Spud Muffin is owned and operated by a father-daughter duo in Marietta."

Proceeds from donations will benefit the Alzheimer's Association, an organization Paramount has supported for years.

"Paramount Senior Living is a personal care residence that offers assisted living services to seniors that may have physical and/or cognitive impairments that limit their ability to live independently," Wivell commented. The senior living facility hosts a team annually in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, she said, adding, "The Alzheimer's Association is an organization that is focused on funding research to end Alzheimer's disease while also being a multifaceted resource and support to those impacted by the disease through education, care and advocacy."

Wivell invites everyone to enter the car show, noting that older cars are especially appreciated. "We would love to attract show-worthy cars of all ages," she said, "but if we could get some cars from the '40s, '50s and '60s, that would really thrill our residents."

Paramount is hoping to offer music from a DJ at the car show. Interested parties may call Wivell at 717-405-1930. Preregistration is required for all car entries and may be made up until the event by calling 717-426-0033. Registered participants will enter the grounds from the Maytown Road entrance while spectators will enter from Enslow Road.
