Susquehanna National Heritage Area (Susquehanna NHA) has announced its upcoming winter programs. Most programs have a per-person fee. To learn more and register, visit http://www.susqnha.org/events or call 717-252-0229.

Children age 5 and up may participate in Outdoor Winter River Rangers at the Zimmerman Center for Heritage, 1706 Long Level Road, Wrightsville, from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, Jan. 22, Feb. 12, Feb. 26, March 12 and March 26. Participants should meet at the venue's new outdoor education space. Most sessions will have a campfire for warmth, but participants dress to explore and learn outdoors. Themes will include "Native Winter," "Animal Adaptations" and "Maple Sugaring." Registration is required.

Campfire Hikes, for people of all ages, will be offered at 1 p.m. on Jan. 22, Feb. 12, Feb. 26, March 12, and March 26. Starting from the Zimmerman Center, a Susquehanna NHA guide will lead participants at a leisurely pace through Native Lands County Park. These walks are rated moderate to easy and are appropriate for both adults and children. Attendees should dress appropriately for walking outdoors for an hour or more. Participants will observe winter wildlife and practice species identification along the way. Themes will vary depending on the guide, group interests and weather. Hikes will conclude with hot chocolate by a campfire. Registration is required.

Cabin Fever Crafts at Columbia Crossing, a drop-in program for people of all ages, will be offered every Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, 41 Walnut St., Columbia. The January craft will be yarn painting, and the February crafts will be paper quilling and DIY greeting cards. This program is free, but donations will be accepted to support Susquehanna NHA's programs and education initiatives.
