New exhibit explores D-Day

Winters Heritage House Museum, 47 E. High St., Elizabethtown, has opened a new exhibit, "D-Day: Liberation Through the Eyes and Lives of Elizabethtown Families." The exhibit will be on view on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, July 5. On Friday, June 14, in addition to the morning and early afternoon hours, visitors may stop by between 4 and 8 p.m. The display will also be open on Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The exhibit commemorates the 80th anniversary of D-Day and acknowledges the impact of World War II on the Elizabethtown community and the surrounding area. The exhibit features physical artifacts from World War II and war stories told by Elizabethtown veterans and their families, including the account of 1st Lt. William Herr Myers, who went missing on Nov. 27, 1945, when his plane disappeared in Malaysia.

Free and metered parking is available behind 33 E. High St., Elizabethtown.
