Music students chosen for festivals

Six students from Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) were chosen to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Region 5 Chorus Festival, hosted at Messiah University in early March. These students are Scott Creason, bass 2; Claire Hanlon, soprano 1; Olivia Gable, soprano 1; Josie Sirinides, soprano 2; Calla Stoltzfus, alto 1; and Brendan Fritz, bass 1. Along with 260 other students from schools across the region, they earned their place in this ensemble through a rigorous audition process at the PMEA District 7 and PMEA District 10 chorus festivals earlier in the year.

The PMEA Region 5 Chorus Festival is a celebration of musical achievement and an opportunity for students to learn and grow as musicians. It seeks to foster a collaborative spirit among participants. The two-day event featured Rachel Cornacchio, a professor of music at Messiah University, as the guest director.

EAHS was also represented at the PMEA District 7 Jazz Band Festival, which took place on March 15 to 16 at Central Dauphin High School. EAHS student Eleyas Kettering was one of four tenor saxophone players chosen to participate in the annual event.

The festival brought together 60 student musicians from the region. They were directed by guest conductors Jennifer Krupa, Drew Zaremba, and Tyler Thomas.
