Music, Dance Performances Planned At Gretna

Gretna Music has planned concerts for Sunday, Sept. 12, and Saturday, Sept. 18. Both events will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Mount Gretna Playhouse, 200 Pennsylvania Ave., Mount Gretna.

On Sept. 12, cellist Sophia Bacelar, dancer Jamaii Melvin, and pianist Noreen Polera will perform a program of music and dance. This event replaces the concert featuring Conrad Tao and Caleb Teicher. Bacelar, Melvin, and Polera's performance will include works by Bach, Chopin, Piazzolla, Rachmaninoff and Saint-Saëns.

Gretna Music will close out its summer season on Sept. 18 with a joint performance by the Dalí Quartet and the Wister Quartet, both of which are based in Philadelphia. Each group will play a Beethoven string quartet and then come together to perform Felix Mendelssohn's String Octet in E-Flat Major, Op 20.

Before the quartets perform, West Shore Christian Academy student Kellen Mikesell, violinist, will perform at 6:45 p.m. as part of the First Listen series. First Listen provides local talented youths an opportunity to present mini-concerts before the mainstage concerts. These performances are free and open to the public.
