Mount Gretna home tour posted

A self-guided walking tour of Mount Gretna homes will take place on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The tour will offer a peek inside 10 homes ranging from tiny weekend cottages to year-round homes. Tour participants will see how families have transformed these cottages to accommodate modern life while retaining the homes' original charm. Featured on the tour this year are campmeeting and Chautauqua homes built between the late 1800s and the 1930s. Some of the houses overlook the Conewago Lake while others are close enough to Gretna's two music venues, the Tabernacle and Mt. Gretna Playhouse, that the residents can hear the sounds of live music.

Snitz Creek Cabinet Shop is sponsoring the event. Proceeds will benefit Gretna Music, an organization that has been presenting music in central Pennsylvania for more than 49 years.

To purchase tickets at a discounted price in advance, call Gretna Music at 717-361-1508, visit http://www.gretnamusic.org, or stop by any Stauffers of Kissel Hill location or the Mount Gretna Visitor Information Center on Carnegie Avenue. On the day of the tour, tickets will be sold outside the Mount Gretna Post Office, 101 Princeton Ave., and in front of the Mt. Gretna Playhouse at 200 Pennsylvania Ave.
