Ministerium announces Lenten services

The Hershey Area Ministerium, an ecumenical collective of churches in the Hershey area, has scheduled three worship services during Lent. All services will begin at noon and will be followed by a light lunch served by the hosting congregation for a suggested donation.

The first service will be held on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave. Worship will be led by the Rev. Ursula Schreffler of Zion Lutheran Church, Union Deposit, and John Triscik of St. Joan of Arc. For more information, call the St. Joan of Arc church office at 717-533-7168.

The Wednesday, March 6, service will be hosted by Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 E. Derry Road. Leading worship will be the Rev. Cindy Brommer from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Rev. First United Methodist Church (UMC), 64 W. Chocolate Ave., will host a worship service on Good Friday, March 29. The service will be led by the Rev. Adam Ulm from Spring Creek Church of the Brethren and the Rev. Stephen McKinney-Whitaker of Derry Church. For more information, call the First UMC office at 717-533-9668.

The Hershey Area Ministerium seeks to respond to the needs of the local community and to provide ecumenical worship services. The Lenten offerings received will be donated to local social service organizations, including the Hershey Food Bank and Community Outreach, Love INC, and Hope Within.
