Max Ludewig has been deeply entwined with the music community in Lancaster for over a decade. He joined his first band, Magnolia, in 2012 and has remained active in countless projects over the years since. "I always loved listening to music, and in eighth grade my friends wanted to start a punk band," said Ludewig. "I didn't want to be left out, so I joined. It gave me a good reason to pick up the guitar my mom had bought me the previous year that I hadn't touched yet." The group performed at multiple venues throughout Ludewig's years as a student at Manheim Township High School, including a venue he began running himself. Beat Mountain, as it was called, saw not only local artists perform but also touring bands from outside the state.

After graduating high school in 2017, Ludewig attended Millersville University, studying in the music industry program. The program offered him a wealth of knowledge on all sides of the industry, from management to production to performance. He spent a semester interning at The Kaleidoscope, a local recording studio, where he was able to acquire hands-on experience working with bands and watching them undergo the recording process from setup through mastering. Ludewig graduated from Millersville University in 2021 and continued working with The Kaleidoscope for a few months following, as well as with Millersville music venue Phantom Power.

Ludewig has recorded multiple albums and toured as a member of various projects, recently playing an East Coast tour with his band, Fragile Like Life After. The tour saw the outfit perform in Philadelphia, New Jersey and Virginia, where it debuted music from its upcoming album titled "(I don't think they're coming)." "We use inspiration from bands such as Karate, The Kidcrash and Johnny Foreigner, but we definitely have our own sound that combines slowcore, math rock and screamo," said Ludewig. Fragile Like Life After consists of Ludewig as the lead vocalist and guitar player, bassist Adrian Alicea and drummer Chris Copeland.

Among his other musical endeavors, Ludewig also writes and performs melancholic, acoustic songs for his solo project, Weak Lungs, a moniker he began using in 2017. "I decided to use the name Weak Lungs as a reference to the asthma that plagues me in my everyday life," said Ludewig. When asked where he sees himself in five years, Ludewig noted that he would like to operate a music venue of his own and be able to tour the country at least twice a year. "What I want people to get out of my music the most is the same amount of emotion that I do," Ludewig said. "I love sharing the songs and being able to tour and see parts of the country I haven't been to before."
