MAHS Program To Highlight Historic Trolley

The Millersville Area Historical Society (MAHS) will offer a slideshow titled "The Trolley to Pequea and the Resort Town of Pequea" during its meeting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, in Millersville's Municipal Center, 100 Municipal Drive. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and lock at 9:15 a.m. Anyone who has not been vaccinated against COVID-19 is asked to wear a mask.

Mark W. Arbogast, a history buff and postcard collector who has resided in Lancaster County since 1986, will be the speaker for this presentation, which he first delivered to an overflow MAHS audience in March 2019. Arbogast is a retired PPL land manager who worked at the Holtwood and Brunner Island power plant projects.

The presentation includes early postcard views of the historic trolley that ran along Pequea Creek from Millersville to Pequea, the resort town of Pequea that was a fashionable Susquehanna River destination in the early 1900s, and the River View Hotel, as well as photos of the miniature railroad that took people to nearby York Furnace Park and old views of Cold Cave. The program will close with a question-and-answer session.
