Love is Kind

On Saturday, Feb. 3, DOVE Rivers of Life, 900 Winter Hill Road, Strasburg, will host an event to inspire fellowship among Christian women in the community. The event, titled Love is Kind, will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tickets are available to purchase in advance at a set price per person, and registration is open to women age 17 or older.

Love is Kind will have a breakfast bar to offer guests refreshments such as waffles, egg casseroles, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits, and hot chocolate. Coffee will be provided by One Mission Coffee.

Guests will have an opportunity to participate in activities designed to help them strengthen their relationship with God, and they will be invited to create a heart-shaped treat at a cookie decorating station. Love is Kind will also include a time of praise and worship, which will be led by Alyssa Mayersky. Throughout the morning, guest speakers Brittney Holzhauer and Renee Duke will share presentations that will incorporate personal testimonies and discussion on topics such as adoption and choosing love for yourself as an individual.

Door prizes will be given out during the event, including a variety of items donated by small businesses and organizations in the Southern End. The prizes will feature items from Cam's Macarons, Southern End Community Association, Junkin' Junes Sourdough & Sweets and Rachel Nolt Photography.

Love is Kind is the third encouragement event in a series that was started by Jennifer Forren of Quarryville. Forren organized the first event in 2019 with a vision to provide women an environment where they could create lasting friendships and connect with those who share similar values. That event, titled Beloved, had no sponsorships or other involvement from local businesses. Beloved received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community, however; more than 100 women attended it. Forren organized Crowned, a follow-up event, in October 2023.

Interest in the series continued to grow, and Forren began to receive sponsorships and donated goods to support the events. Forren received several requests for additional events, and many women reached out to offer their assistance with the planning process. At first, Forren did not plan on organizing anything after Beloved, but the wave of support prompted her to create the group deardaughter.ministry to continue the series.

"People love the community aspect and having others who are like-minded around you," Forren said. "A lot of women are just enjoying that, and of course taking time for themselves to learn about God."

A limited number of walk-ins will be accepted for Love is Kind, but Forren encourages women who are interested to register in advance at http://tinyurl.com/loveiskindevent.
