Limeville Church to host first Craft Fair

Limeville Church, 5783 Limeville Road, Gap, will host a craft fair on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first-time event will feature a selection of crafts offered by local vendors, as well as a silent auction.

The craft fair will be set up downstairs in the church's fellowship hall. Crafts for sale will include leather jewelry and leather crafts, custom iced coffee cups, saltwater pearl jewelry, crocheted items, candles, Tupperware, Scentsy, Dresden & Company baskets, wood crafts, wreaths and customized Stanley cups.

"There are about 16 crafters," said congregation member Melanie Shivery, who is organizing the event along with Danae Baldwin. "I am selling jewelry and cups, and (a representative from) Wreaths Across America will sell candles." Shivery noted that there will also be a hot chocolate bar, iced coffee and light refreshments offered for a donation.

Gift baskets that will be featured in the silent auction will contain gift certificates to Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse; Hands-on House, Children's Museum of Lancaster; Dutch Lanes in Ephrata; and the Turkey Hill Experience in Columbia. There is also a gift card from Kerrie Kentzel Photography and a Gumbas Company gift basket that includes items such as salsa and sauces.

Also offered will be a Squishmallow basket donated by Cristina's Thrift & Gift Shop in New Holland. "These are specialty stuffed animals that people collect," noted Shivery.

In addition to the items donated by local businesses, the crafters and vendors have donated items for the silent auction.

"The silent auction will begin online on Friday, Nov. 17, for the donated items from locally owned businesses. This does not include (baskets) from our crafters/vendors," Shivery explained. "(Bidding) will take place on Limeville's Blessings Facebook page. Bids will continue in person at the craft show and will end at 12:30 p.m. You do not have to be present to win."

All proceeds from the craft fair and silent auction will support the church's children's ministry and the Limeville's Blessings store, which offers free clothing, household items, children's toys, toiletries and more to people in need. The store, which Shivery operates, opened at the church in July of 2022. Anyone in need of assistance is welcome to visit the store, and no proof of income or residency is required. Limeville's Blessings is currently open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition to the craft show, upcoming events at Limeville Church will include its annual children's Christmas event on Saturday, Dec. 9. There will also be a Limeville's Blessings toy drive in December and in January 2024, the church will offer a Great Bible Adventurers program for elementary school children on Mondays at 6:30 p.m.
