Life in Christ Church Will Move to New Home

Life in Christ Church (LICC) is on the move.

On Sunday, Nov. 1, the church, led by pastors Joe and Sara Spence, will relocate to a more spacious new home at 921 Nissley Road in East Hempfield Township. The move will help accommodate LICC's growing congregation and enable expansion of its programs for families and the community.

"We're absolutely thrilled about this move," Joe said. "Our new building will just about double our square footage. We'll also get to make the building our own, which is really nice."

The Spences launched Life in Christ Church in Lancaster city in 2020. Two years later, the congregation - which then numbered about 60 members - moved to its current location in a busy strip mall on Dillerville Road, just outside the city.

"Now we have 300 members, so there was a big growth spurt," Sara said. "The upcoming move will really expand our capacity for the younger generation. Our vision is to be able to increase our programs for children and youth."

LICC's congregation is excited about the move, especially that its future home is a stand-alone building with a dedicated parking lot, the Spences said. The building previously served as a home for another church congregation, which completed renovations to the sanctuary and lobby.

LICC will work on renovations to other interior areas of the church, as well as painting and landscaping upgrades to make the building's exterior shine. The Spences are grateful for the support of their church members, who are assisting with renovations and will lend trucks, trailers and manpower to help complete the physical move to the new building at the end of October.

While Sara notes that it can be fun to have a full house at church, prospective members who encounter limited space might wonder if there is room for them and their families. The new building will allow LICC to increase the number of available classrooms. Youth members, who are in seventh to 12th grades, will have their own space for the first time.

"It's so vital that we emphasize investing in our ministry for our children and youth," Sara said. "Statistics show that for people who really plug into a church and develop a lifelong faith, it starts in that age group."

The Spences invite people of all backgrounds to visit the church, where they will encounter a welcoming environment that is free of judgment.

"If you're looking for a home church, we'd love to have you come visit us," Joe said. "We always say we have the best people in Lancaster County, and we really believe that. People come here and really feel like they're a part of something, and they are."

Life in Christ Church will hold its first services in its new home at 921 Nissley Road on Nov. 1 at 9 and 11:15 a.m. For more information on the church, visit http://www.licchurch.com.
