Library sets August programs

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer a variety of programming. All programs are free, unless stated otherwise, and require preregistration. For more information and to register, visit http://www.mslibrary.org or call 717-653-1510.

Summer Food Truck Thursdays and bonus days will continue through Thursday, Aug. 29. The aforementioned website and the library's social media pages include information about these events.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Programs for children and teens include Lunch Bunch for children age 8 and up on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at noon; Lego Challenge on Aug. 13 at 6 p.m.; Fun Fort Friday for families on Aug. 16 from 5 to 6 p.m.; Teen Chill & Draw with Hanna on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m.; Adventures with Baby on Monday, Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 6 months to 2 years; and Family Story Time on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 10:30 a.m.

The library's new reading buddy, Sasha the dog, will be at the library on Thursday evenings by appointment to help struggling readers build confidence.

Teen Zine Tuesdays, a virtual program, will be available for youths ages 12 to 19 this summer. Authors will offer creative prompts and a real-time look at their writing process via Zoom. Written works by the youths and guest authors will be compiled in a SummerZine. In July, participants may work with Adam Perry from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Critter Connection will take place on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 10:30 a.m. Children will have opportunities to touch and hold snakes, geckos, a bearded dragon, tortoises, turtles, insects, a rabbit and a guinea pig. They will also learn a few facts about each animal.

Art in the Park will be held outdoors, weather permitting, on Aug. 8 at 1:30 p.m. Kids will create theme-inspired artworks based upon the works of a particular artist. This program is for children age 7 and up.

A "Back to School Is Cool!" family story time will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15.

Marietta Family Story Time will be held on Aug. 16 at 10:30 a.m. inside the old First National Bank, 100 W. Market St., Marietta.

Teen D&D will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. Interested teens may contact Jan Betty at jbetty@mslibrary.org.

Activities for adults will include Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Aug. 12 and 26, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Aug. 24 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; and Lit Lovers Book Discussion Group on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 6:30 p.m.

The Friends of Milanof-Schock Library will meet on Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m.

The movie "42: The Jackie Robinson Story" will be held on Aug. 14 at 1:20 p.m. Free popcorn will be provided.

Dr. Abby from Shalom Family Chiropractic will present Introduction to Family Chiropractic Care on Aug. 14 at 6 p.m.
