Library Posts Schedule

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer a variety of programming in May. All programs are free, unless stated otherwise, and require preregistration. For more information and to register, visit http://www.mslibrary.org or call 717-653-1510.

The library will be closed on Saturday, May 23, and Monday, May 25.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The library will host the Kraybill Mennonite School's student art show on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Friends of the Library will host a Community Plant Exchange and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to noon. People may bring plants to the library from 9 to 10 a.m., and the exchange will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants are asked to bring their plants in containers they do not need back and to mark each container with the plant's name.

Programs for children and families will include Reading with Sasha, a KPETS therapy dog, on Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m.; Wiggle & Giggle Story Time, Monday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 6 months through 2 years; Family Story Time with Miss Alyssa, Wednesdays, May 6, 13, and 20, at 10:30 a.m.; and Family Story Time with Miss Katelyn, Thursdays, May 7, 14, and 21, at 10:30 a.m.

Preschool Pals will be offered on Tuesday, May 12, at 10:30 a.m. The program is designed to help children ages 3 to 6 prepare for kindergarten readiness through social emotional learning, literacy, and communication.

Reading the World will be offered on May 14 at 1:30 p.m. Families can pretend to fly to the country of the week and have their "passports" stamped. There will be a short presentation about the country the group is "visiting," with stories or folklore and a craft based in that country. The program is for people age 6 and older.

A Snuggle Up Family Story Time will be held on May 14 at 6 p.m. Children may wear their pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal.

Imagination Station, for children ages 2 to 7, will take place on Monday, May 4, at 10:30 a.m.

History Alive! will be held on Tuesday, May 5, at 2:30 p.m. for children age 6 and older. This month, attendees will learn about the Apollo 11.

Family Craft Night will be offered on May 5 at 6 p.m.

A Fairy Garden Craft Party on May 7 at 6 p.m. will celebrate the annual reopening of the library's fairy garden. Children can create their very own miniature fairy gardens and take them home at the end of the night.

Little Tinker Thinkers, a new monthly STEAM-based program where children will learn about science, engineering, art, and math through hands-on activities, will be held on May 12 at 2:30 p.m. The program is for children age 6 and older.

Parachute Play will be offered on Monday, May 18, at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 3 to 5 with a caregiver. The program will offer interactive play using a large parachute.

Teen D&D will meet on May 16 at 1 p.m. Those interested in joining should contact Laura Bear at lbear@mslibrary.org.

Activities for adults will include Closely Knit, a program for knitters and crocheters, on May 11 at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Adult Game Night, May 6 and 20 at 5 p.m.; Adult Book Bingo, May 20 at 2 p.m.; Quilt Study on May 13 at 12:30 p.m.; and Book Discussion Group - Lit Lovers, Tuesday, May 26, at 6:30 p.m., with the topic of "Horse" by Geraldine Brooks.

Easy Writer Club, for writers of all levels, will meet on May 20 at 6:30 p.m. No registration is required.

The Friends of the Library will hold its monthly group meeting on May 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Community members are welcome to attend the library's board meeting on May 21 at 6:30 p.m.
