Library Posts January Activities

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require registration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

The library's fourth annual Student Art Show will take place in the large program room on Saturday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Held in conjunction with Mount Joy's Festival of the Arts, the library's show displays art created by students at Donegal High School and Donegal Junior High School.

All children and family programs will be in person only and outside when possible.

Other child, youth and family activities will include Super Science, for children age 3 and up, on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 10:30 a.m.; Lego Challenge, a family program, on Jan. 11 at 6 p.m., with space limited; Story Time on Wednesdays, Jan. 12, 19 and 26, and Thursdays, Jan. 13, 20 and 27, at 10:30 a.m.; a Homeschool Art Class, for children age 7 and up, on Jan. 13 at 1:30 p.m.; Fun Family Bingo, for people age 7 and up, on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m., with space limited; Homeschool STEM, for youths age 7 and up, on Jan. 20 at 1:30 p.m.; and Homeschool History Mystery, for children age 7 and up, on Jan. 27 at 1:30 p.m. Families may also visit the library for Fun Fort Friday on Jan. 14 from 5 to 6 p.m. Attendees may bring blankets or sheets, flashlights and a drink. Space is limited.

The Winter Reading Program will take place from Saturday, Jan. 15, to Saturday, Feb. 19. Papers can be picked up at the library.

A variety of programs will also be available for adults. People may visit the Puzzle Swap display in the library to give away or pick up gently used puzzles.

Adult Game Night will offer a variety of board games and card games on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 6 p.m.

The library will take break from the biweekly reading challenges for adults to return to "Cozy Up and Read Bingo." Through February, adults can pick up a bingo game sheet at the library, complete five challenges in a row, and submit their completed sheet to the library to earn a small prize and to be eligible for a grand prize drawing on Tuesday, March 1. Participants may complete as many bingo cards as they like.

The Friends of the Milanof-Schock Library will meet on Monday, Jan. 10, at 6 p.m. New members are welcome.

A bimonthly Quilt Study will take place in the large program room on Jan. 12 at 12:30 p.m. Quilt enthusiasts will gather to look over featured quilts and discuss their stitching, patterns, and history.

Programs for adults will also include Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Jan. 10 and 24, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; the Northwest Book Club on Jan. 12 at 6 p.m.; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Jan. 15 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; A Gathering of Artists Club on Wednesday, Jan. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Make-It Monday - "Macrame With Jazmynn " on Jan. 24 at 6 p.m., with space limited.
