Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer a variety of programs for the community. Registration for all programs may be completed at http://www.mslibrary.org or by calling 717-653-1510.

Visitors should continue to wear a mask when entering the library and attending indoor programs. Returned items should continue to be placed in the outside book drop. Returned items are quarantined for seven days, during which time fines will not accrue.

The library is open on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library is closed on Fridays and Sundays. Gently-used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays during the library's operating hours.

Milanof-Schock Library will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday a little differently this year. Instead of a green eggs and ham breakfast, a family-friendly event called "Celebrate Seuss - a Library Adventure!" will be held on Friday, March 5, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the fundraising event will include a pass through the maze, hands-free games, activities, prizes, and a goodie bag for each child. Each person will also receive a chance to win a variety of prizes, including gift cards for Gus's Keystone Family Restaurant. Attendees will meet the Grinch, Thing 1, Thing 2, Horton, Gertrude McFuzz, the Fox from "Fox in Socks," and the Cat in the Hat. Everyone is invited to wear costumes to celebrate their favorite characters. Masks will be required to participate. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Families will be asked to choose a reservation time to provide social distancing between groups.

Programs for children and families will be held in person beginning in February. Programs will also be offered on social media for families that do not feel comfortable coming into the library. Preregistration is required as space is limited, and preregistration will also ensure that enough take-home bags can be prepared.

Story Time with Miss Jan will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Space is limited. History Mystery, a new homeschool offering where students age 7 and older learn about a real event in history and try to solve a mystery, will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 10:30 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. Fun Family Bingo with books for prizes will be held at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23 for family members age 7 and older.

Several programs and clubs will be offered for adults. Available throughout February, Blind Date with a Book offers a literary surprise with books that are wrapped to hide their identity, although a few hints about the genre and topic are provided. Readers may visit the aforementioned website for more information.
