Library Posts Activity Schedule

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer programming. All programs are free, unless stated otherwise, and require preregistration. Register for all programs at http://www.mslibrary.org or by calling 717-653-1510. Online registration is requested.

Members of the public, including those who are fully vaccinated, should wear a mask when visiting the library and attending indoor programs.

Beginning on Friday, June 4, the library will be open on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library will be closed on Sundays.

A variety of child, youth and family programs will be offered. These programs will be held outside, weather permitting.

The library will bring back the Milanof-Schock Mile as part of the Summer Reading Program, beginning Saturday, June 5. Prizes will be available for those who walk the mile 10 times and have a library staff member punch their card, which may be obtained at the library.

During Lego Challenge on Tuesday, June 8, at 6 p.m., people of all ages may build with provided Legos, focusing on the evening's theme.

Family Story Time will take place on Wednesdays, June 9, 16, and 23, at 10:30 a.m.

Turtle Dance Music on Thursday, June 10, at 1 p.m. will feature children's stories and songs about animals.

A drop-in Mini Maker Fest, for people of all ages, will take place on the library's side lawn on Saturday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to noon. Attendees may observe and interact with makers as they create their art or crafts. Members of Make717's creative team will demonstrate technology.

A magic show called Tricks! With Ran'D Shine has been slated for Tuesday, June 15, at 10:30 a.m. Fun Family Book Bingo, featuring interactive, themed rounds and books for prizes, will take place on June 15 at 6 p.m. People age 7 and up may make a STEM creation on Thursday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m.

Readers' Theater, for those age 7 and up, will be held on Friday, June 18, at 10 a.m. Participants will prepare short, themed readers' theater pieces and perform them for family members at 11:45 a.m.

Art in the Park, for students age 7 and up, will take place on Monday, June 21, at 1 p.m. Crazy Cubes Stories will be available to children age 6 and up on Thursday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m.

Families may build a fort among the bookshelves on Fun Fort Friday, June 25, at 5 p.m. Attendees should bring blankets and flashlights.

During POP Day (Poetry on Paper), people of all ages may create poetry using words from magazines combined with their own written words. This program will take place on Saturday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to noon in fair weather only.

Sidewalk Chalk Art, for people of all ages, will occur on Monday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to noon, weather permitting.

Lunch Bunch, for elementary students age 8 and up, is planned for Tuesday, June 29, at noon. Participants are invited to bring a lunch and the book they are reading. There will be a mystery guest.

Phredd - Ukulele One Man Band will perform on Wednesday, June 30, at 11 a.m. The event is for children age 4 and up.

Writers ages 12 to 19 are invited to contribute to the SummerZine, which will feature poetry, short stories, and essays by Lancaster County teens as well as guest authors. Youths and the first guest author will meet on Tuesday, June 8, or Tuesday, June 22, at 4 p.m.

Among the programs for adults is a Summer Reading Olympic-themed game that will begin on June 5 and offers a chance to win an Amazon gift card.

Knitters and crocheters may work on individual projects during Closely Knit on Mondays, June 14 and 28, at 1 p.m. No registration is necessary.

The Friends Group of the Milanof-Schock Library will meet on June 14 at 6:30 p.m.

The Northwest Book Club will meet on Wednesday, June 9, at 6 p.m. to discuss "The Wife Between Us" by Greer Henkricks and Sarah Pekkanen.

The Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for those from beginners to experts, will meet on Saturday, June 19, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Beginners can purchase a cross-stitch kit and bring it with them.

Artists may work on individual projects during A Gathering of Artists Club on Wednesday, June 23, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Make-It Monday - Cricut 101, for teens and adults, will be held on Monday, June 28, at 6 p.m. Participants should not bring their own machines.
