Summer activities planned

Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz, will offer a variety of activities to the community. For more details and registration, contact the library at 717-626-2255 or register@lititzlibrary.org or visit http://www.lititzlibrary.org.

The Summer Reading Program, "All Together Now," will be held from June 3 to Saturday, Aug. 12. People from birth to age 19 may be registered at the aforementioned website, or people may stop by the library to pick up your reading log.

Summer Reading materials for adults are also available at the library or the aforementioned website.

When youths sign up for the Summer Reading Program, they may also register for the Get Outdoors! (GO!) program, which will run from June 1 to Aug. 12 and is for those from birth to age 18. Participants will visit local, county, and state parks to make etchings from special posts, which will also have a code for checking off the park in Beanstack. By logging parks, people may earn entries into a prize drawing. Guidebooks and etching sheets are available at the library and http://www.golancaster.org.

The library will offer several ongoing programs. The Knitting Club will meet on Monday, June 19, at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, June 27, at 6 p.m. Lititz Game Club for players age 10 and older will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21. Morning Yoga will take place at 9 a.m. on Fridays, June 16 and 23. The Painting Club will meet on Wednesdays, June 14 and 28, at 12:30 p.m. The Great Decisions Discussion Group will gather on June 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Members of the Blanketeers will gather to make blankets of various kinds for Project Linus on Tuesday, June 20, at 2 p.m.

A Dessert Bar Crawl Contest will take place on Thursday, June 15, at 6 p.m. Beginning June 1, people may register to bring in a pan of dessert bars along with the recipe. Bakers and tasters will try a bite of each bar and vote for their favorites. The winner will receive a prize.

Bravura Brass will usher in the Summer Reading Program with a concert on Thursday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the library's backyard. The event will also include an ice cream social featuring ice cream donated by Isabella's Ice Cream. Attendees should bring a blanket or chairs. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the library's community room and only those who registered will be admitted.

A Friends of the Lititz Library Trivia Event will be held on Saturday, June 24, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Teams of up to six people may participate, and there is a fee. Light refreshments and cash prizes will be provided. Registration is requested.

Lititz Art Association will meet on June 27 at 6 p.m.

The library's Summer StoryWalk title is "The Big Umbrella" by Amy June Bates. The StoryWalk begins to the right of the library entrance and moves counterclockwise around the library.

The following programs, for children and families, require registration online two weeks prior to the event.

Children may read to therapy dogs during Paws to Read on June 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Book Buddies, for children ages 3 to 10, will be held on Tuesdays, June 20 and 27, at 10 a.m.

Talewise will present Science Heroes: Saving Earth Together, for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, on June 14 at 6 p.m. The program will include science experiments.

The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners will hold Celebrate Pollinator Month on June 19 at 1 p.m. for children ages 5 to 10. Children will hear a story, learn a dance and take home items to remind them of pollinators.

Wacky Wednesday: Being Friends will be presented on June 21 at 1 p.m. and will include a story and hands-on stations that relate to the theme.

Children ages 6 to 9 are invited to attend Kids' Yoga on June 23 at 10:30 a.m.

The Lancaster County Department of Parks & Recreation will present Nature Art From Around the World on June 28 at 1 p.m. for people age 12 and up. Attendees will learn the traditions behind three types of art and then choose a type of art to tell their story.
