Library Announces Activities

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require registration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510.

The library will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 25, and Monday, Dec. 27.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Classical Guitar Society of Lancaster will present the Lancaster Classical Guitar Quartet and Friends in concert on Friday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m. The concert will consist of holiday and classical guitar music. Admission is free.

All children and family programs will be in person only and outside when possible.

The Mount Joy Chamber of Commerce has arranged for Santa to visit the library to meet families on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Snorey Time Story Time will be available on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. Miss Jan will read aloud "'Twas the Night Before Christmas." Attendees may wear pajamas. Space is limited.

Other child, youth and family activities will include Family Story Time on Wednesdays, Dec. 8, 15, and 22, and Thursdays, Dec. 9 and 16, at 10:30 a.m.; a Homeschool Art Class, for children age 7 and up, on Dec. 9 at 1:30 p.m.; Homeschool STEM Mystery, for people age 7 and up, on Dec. 16 at 1:30 p.m.; and Fun Family Bingo, for people age 7 and up, on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m., with space limited. Families may also visit the library for Fun Fort Friday on Dec. 10 from 5 to 6 p.m. Attendees may bring blankets or sheets, flashlights, and a drink. Space is limited.

A variety of programs will also be available for adults. People may visit the Puzzle Swap display in the library to give away or pick up gently used puzzles.

Adults may participate in two reading challenges, with entry forms available at the library. One winner is chosen each month. Through Sunday, Dec. 12, participants should read or listen to a book about a family, and from Monday, Dec. 13, to Friday, Dec. 31, they should read or listen to a book about holiday spirit.

Programs for adults will also include the Northwest Book Club on Dec. 8 at 6 p.m.; Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Dec. 13 at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Make-It Monday - "Holiday Ornaments" on Dec. 13 at 6 p.m., with space limited; A Gathering of Artists Club on Dec. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

The Friends of the Milanof-Schock Library will meet on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at 6 p.m. New members are welcome.
