Leader Center Sets Programs

The Leader Center for Active Life, formerly the Mohler Center, 605 Cocoa Ave., Hershey, has posted its programs and events. For more information, call 717-533-2002.

The center will hold an open house on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature a free continental breakfast, door prizes, and giveaways. Representatives from community groups, sponsors, and instructors will answer questions and provide screenings. The new Leader Center for Active Life T-shirts will be unveiled, and the Dauphin County commissioners will issue a proclamation at noon.

The Leader Learns series will be held on select Wednesdays at 2 p.m., with the schedule as follows: Travel With Kim Reese to Alaska, Oct. 12; Prevention With Antioxidants, Oct. 26; and Exercise and Your Brain, featuring Kim Eichinger and Joel Kroft from Country Meadows, Nov. 2.

Friday Flix will be offered at 1 p.m. on select Fridays, with "The Queen" starring Helen Mirren on Oct. 14 and "Elvis" starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks on Oct. 28.

Lunch and Learns are held on select Mondays at noon. On Oct. 17, Jay from Go Comprehensive will provide an easy-to-understand explanation of Medicare, and lunch will be chicken corn chowder, a sandwich, and dessert. Registration is required by Thursday, Oct. 13. On Oct. 31, Eugene Henry from the Hershey Campus of Country Meadows will lead attendees in scary fun; attendees may wear a costume if they wish. Sandwiches and more will be on the menu, and registration is required by Thursday, Oct. 20. Vinny from Beltone Hearing Aid Center will share 10 myths about hearing on Nov. 7. Lunch will be pizza, tossed salad, and dessert, and registration must be made by Thursday, Nov. 3.

A Friday Social will be held on Oct. 21 at 11:30 a.m. Country Meadows will cater a meal of a stuffed boneless pork chop, herb-roasted potatoes, a vegetable medley, pasta salad, and carrot cake, and there will be entertainment by Glenn Miller, The Big One-Man Band. There is a cost, and registration is required by Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The Smart Driver course will be held at the Leader Center, with an eight-hour course from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 13 and 14. A four-hour refresher course will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. To register, call the center.

Medicare open enrollment events will be held form 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24; Wednesday, Nov. 9; and Monday, Nov. 21, at th Leader Center. To make an appointment, call PA MEDI of Dauphin County at 717-780-6130.

Living With Dementia will be presented by Penn State Health at the Leader Center on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. Resources for dementia caregivers will be discussed, and a supervised Memory Cafe for loved ones with dementia will be available. Register by calling 814-863-1048.

The book club will discuss "Ghost Boy" by Martin Pistorius on Oct. 31 at 2:30 p.m.

A hearing screening will take place on Friday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon, courtesy of Beltone. Free hearing aid cleaning will also be available.
