LCAA Announces Award Winners

Lancaster County Art Association (LCAA), 149 Precision Ave., Strasburg, has announced the award winners in its 2021 Spring Membership Show, which concluded on April 22. The show featured a wide variety of subjects, styles and mediums. Fine-detail watercolors hung next to broad-brushed abstracts in a celebration of creativity.

The Myrtle Tremblay Award for Watercolor was presented to Debra Smith for her painting titled "It's Snowing Again, Dagnabit."

In the Professional Division, the award winners included Kristin Blanck for her oil painting titled "Go West," first place; Marianne Calenda, charcoal, "Peach Alley," second place; and Jennifer Cavalcante, photograph, "Orange Tulips," third place. Honorable mentions went to Melissa Carroll, oil painting, "Kirkwood Reserve"; Judy W. Smith, mixed media, "Spring Dance"; John Sauers, watercolor, "Early Spring"; and Jane Wise, watercolor, "Through the Air."

Non-professional artists showcased their talents as well. Winners included Shirley Taggart for her mixed media abstract "Spring in the City," first place; Jerry Brown, watercolor, "Winter Shadows," second place; and Marti Early, "Glacier Play," third place. Honorable mentions went to Amber Horvath for her colored pencil work "Pretty Bird II - Bird of Fire" and Debbie Huff for her alcohol ink painting "Kindness Is in the Eyes."

Other exhibits include a display of pastel works by Dot Stepenaski, which will be on display through Thursday, June 3. The landscapes feature glowing colors and descriptive textures to bring out the beauty of the natural world.
