The Jess Zimmerman Band, a local, independent country rock band, won two awards at the 10th Josie Music Awards, held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn., on Oct. 27. The group had received six nominations.

The band received the accolade for Group of the Year - Country Rock/Southern Rock for the second year in a row as well as the award for Best Performance at the ninth Josie Music Awards. The latter award was determined by votes from audience members, who could choose from 10 performances given during last year's awards event. The Jess Zimmerman Band had performed "Countin' Bottles."

Started in 2015, the Jess Zimmerman Band consists of Jess Zimmerman, Joe Barszowski, Daniel Walters, and Joe Mattis. The band has won numerous awards and was set to release a Christmas album on Nov. 17.

The band will present a Christmas show at Mickey's Black Box, 101 Rock Lititz Blvd., Lititz, on Saturday, Dec. 14. Additional details are available at http://www.jzband.org.
