Jerusalem Church sets community picnic

Jerusalem Church in Penryn will host its annual community picnic on Saturday, Aug. 5. The event has been offered for the community since the 1800s.

In the morning, garage sales will be held throughout the village of Penryn. At the Penryn Church Grove on Picnic Grove Road, takeout chicken corn soup will be available by the quart from 8 a.m. until sold out, and attendees should bring their own containers.

Community members may return to the grove at 4 p.m. to enjoy a meal, featuring table service. The menu will consist of the church's homemade chicken corn soup, hamburgers and hot dogs, cakes, pies, ice cream, drinks, and more.

Attendees may bring lawn chairs and sit under the trees in the picnic grove to hear live music beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Lancaster Marimba Ensemble and The Moonlighters will perform. All profits from the sale of food will go toward various ministries supported by Jerusalem Church and to the Sunday school program.
