In Search of a Living Liver Donor

Joe Stoyanovitch, a lifelong member of the Lititz community, a husband to his wife of 40 years, a father of two and a grandfather of three, is in search of a living liver donor.

Following a cancer diagnosis in August of 2024 and months of tests and treatments, Stoyanovitch has been approved for a liver transplant. His doctors have advised that a living donor is the best option for him. A living donor would allow him to receive a portion of a healthy liver from a living donor at a time that is convenient for the donor and would allow him to get a transplant before he may become too ill to receive one.

The National Kidney Registry has helped Stoyanovitch to develop a custom website to share his personal story and to spread the word to potential donors at http://www.nkr.org/LWS982.

The website also provides information about the living donor process. By sharing his story, people can help to increase the number of people who may consider liver donation as well as build awareness about the life-giving gift of living liver donation.
