Horn Farm posts plant sale

The Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education, located at 4945 Horn Road, York, will host its 12th annual plant sale on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plants, local art, food and other vendor products will be available for purchase during the event.

The one-day sale and community event is being offered in partnership with Horn Farm Center and Kilgore Family Farm. The sale will feature a wide variety of organically grown vegetable, herb and flower starts ideal for the home garden. Shoppers will enjoy offerings from other unique plant and community vendors at the sale, including Calyx Native Nursery, Ort Family Farm, Green Barn Farm, Future Forest Plants, Earthbound Aritand and Virute Local Art Market. A food truck, Noel's Cafe, will offer coffee and other refreshments.

The Horn Farm Center's plant sale will also feature musical entertainment by Nodding Onion, an experimental band that uses sound waves from plants to create unique natural soundscapes on which the musicians will improvise.

The plant sale takes place as the Horn Farm Center continues to fundraise to rebuild its historic farmhouse. The event also follows Give Local York on Thursday and Friday, May 2 and 3, a county-wide time of giving and Horn Farm Center's biggest fundraiser of the year.

The Horn Farm Plant Sale is open to the general public; no admission fee is required to attend. For a full list of plants and more information visit http://www.hornfarmcenter.org/plant-sale.
