Honey Brook Lions Set Annual Halloween Parade

The Honey Brook Lions Club will present its annual Honey Brook Halloween Parade, featuring marching bands, floats and prizes, on Monday, Oct. 26. Participants will begin to assemble at Widespread Rentals and Equipment, 102 Suplee Road, at 6 p.m., and the parade will begin at 7 p.m.

The parade will travel along Horseshoe Pike (Route 322) through the borough and end at the Honey Brook Fire Company, 679 Fire House Lane.

"It's for the community," said organizer Jim Mimm. "We try and do a good job and get as much community participation as possible."

Like in prior years, members of the Twin Valley High School and Twin Valley Middle School marching bands will perform in the parade. Mimm expressed a desire to have other neighboring scholastic bands perform in the parade in the future.

Route 322 will be closed during the parade, along with all side streets from Suplee Road to Waynebrook Drive. The roads will close around 6:45 p.m. and reopen following the conclusion of the parade. Route 10, and some of the lower streets in the borough, will remain open throughout the duration of the parade.

Food will be available to purchase along the parade route, including multiple food wagons from Joanna Store. The Honey Brook Women's Club will also serve refreshments following the parade at the fire company.

Prizes will be given out for the best floats in different categories, including best business float, best small float, best organizational float, and the best kids float. The Lions Club is searching for donations from community members and businesses for the prizes; those interested should contact Mimm at 610-698-0109.

"Nobody's getting rich, but we break it down by the donations that we get," Mimm explained. "The kids from zero to six, we haven't had much participation. We'd love to have a lot more participation from them ... whatever's left over, we split up and give to the senior band and the middle school band for participating, to help them out."

Honey Brook Borough Council will judge the floats.
