Homestead Village Opens New Clubhouse

Homestead Village recently held the grand opening of its Stauffer Spring House. This clubhouse is a place where residents and their guests can gather for meals, fitness, learning, celebrations, and more.

The new Spring House chef has been in the restaurant business for over 40 years, has owned his own bakery, and has experience in senior living. He makes all his pastries - such as Danishes, muffins, and flatbreads - from scratch.

Among the donors providing financial support for the clubhouse are Peggy Neff and Roger and Judy Sandt, who named the new building in honor of memories of summer picnics at the neighboring Lime Spring Farm. The farm hosted groups from civic organizations and the neighboring Rohrerstown Elementary School and even family reunions. Visitors could make their way to a slope-roofed shed referred to as the spring house for games, amenities, and an open, stone fireplace. Neff, who formerly lived at Lime Spring Farm, played badminton and quoits and picked watercress at the lime spring to use for sandwiches. She also enjoyed entertaining children Andy Stauffer and Judy Stauffer - now Judy Sandt - with activities such as searching for four-leaf clovers and watching trains cross the nearby railroad bridge.
