Historical Society Sets Events

The Manheim Historical Society has posted several upcoming events.

Tours will be offered at the Fasig and Keath Colonial houses, 30-32 E. High St., Manheim, as part of 1st Thursday on July 3. Tours will be available beginning at 5 p.m., with the last house tour at 7:45 p.m.

Guided walking tours of Manheim will take place at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. on July 3. Participants may choose from two tours each hour, one lasting 45 minutes and the other lasting 30 minutes. There is no cost. Those who wish to attend should meet at the Fasig House 10 minutes prior to the tour.

The historical society will hold a presentation and house tours on Sunday, July 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. The presentation will take place at 3 p.m. in the Fasig House, and James Buckner, a descendant of passengers on the Mayflower, will present "Voyage of the Mayflower as Told by John Howland." The tours and lecture are free, but registration is recommended by calling 717-665-7989.

The Manheim Railroad Station, 210 S. Charlotte St., Manheim, will be open on Sunday, July 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. "Songs and Stories of the Old Railroad Days," featuring Matthew Dodd, will take place at 2 p.m. Attendees may explore the 1881 station, including the train offices, waiting rooms, a cabin/caboose car, and a model train exhibit. They may also take a trolley ride if weather permits.
