Historical society plans programs

The East Petersburg Historical Society (EPHS) has announced its speaker programs for 2025. Members of the public are invited to hear historians speaking about topics relating to the East Petersburg history and people. The programs will be held on select Mondays at 7 p.m. at the East Petersburg Community Center Building at East Petersburg Community Park, 6051 Pine St., East Petersburg.

"Patriot Daughters of Lancaster 1861-1865, A Civil War Ladies' Aid Society" will be presented on March 3. The program will include historical information and a fashion show featuring garments of the 1800s.

Corey Aspril will tell spooky stories of East Petersburg and Lancaster County on April 7. Attendees will have opportunities to tell stories, as well.

"The Peter Gottschall Family: The Namesake of East Petersburg" is slated for May 5. Robert Alley will explain the Gottschall family's origin and history.

A walking tour of East Petersburg will be offered on June 2. A guide will share details about prominent buildings in the town.

Cindy Beaston will present "On the Double-Quick: Marching From Wrightsville Into History" on Oct. 6. The presentation will explore the Civil War.

In addition, the EPHS archive museum at the Daniel Wolf House, 1905 State St., East Petersburg, is open to the public on the first Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to noon.
