Historical society plans 1st Thursday event

Manheim Historical Society will participate in 1st Thursday on Sept. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Keath and Fasig log homes, 30-32 E. High St., will be open for free tours. Outside, Suzanne Fry will highlight traditional spinning and wool dyeing. "Walking in His Footsteps: Stiegel's Manheim," a free 60-minute history tour with Dr. Robert Kreider, will depart the site at 6 p.m.; participants are asked to register on-site.

At the railroad station, 210 S. Charlotte St., community members may view an extensive display of Manheim history. The model railroad room will be open, and weather permitting, attendees may take a free ride on the Birney trolley.
