Historic Rock Ford Posts Events

Historic Rock Ford, 881 Rockford Road, Lancaster, will hold a presentation on Wednesday, June 3, at 6:30 p.m. April C. Thomas of Fashions Revisited will present "Topping It All Off! Headwear, Bonnets, and Hats in the Last Quarter of the 18th Century."

Thomas is the owner of Fashions Revisited, which provides authentic, historic reproduction clothing and patterns. She has more than 25 years of experience in living history and historic costume design and holds a degree in fashion design. Thomas is a graduate of the Winterthur Institute program, and she collects antique clothing and textiles, which she uses in the development of her historic patterns.

The presentation will take place in the Langmuir Education Room on the first floor of the Rock Ford barn. Admission is for the lecture only and does not include the Snyder Gallery or Hand Mansion. To purchase tickets, visit http://www.historicrockford.org/special-events.

Historic Rock Ford will also host a free America250 Family Day event on Sunday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include craft activities; interactions with living historians, including the 1st Rhode Island Regiment and Leslie Bramlett as Hannah Till, George Washington's personal cook during the Revolutionary War; and themed activities in the General Edward Hand Mansion and the John J. Snyder Jr. Gallery of Early Lancaster County Decorative Arts. Concessions will also be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting Historic Rock Ford.
