Hip-Hop Competition To Feature Youths

The "Hussle or Starve Showcase" will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 9 to 11 p.m. at the TCP Collective, 341 E. Liberty St., Lancaster. It is open to the public.

Students will participate in a hip-hop contest from 9 to 11 p.m., with the winner receiving a feature from national recording artist Leaf Ward. Throughout the fall, recording artist, cinematographer, and military veteran Donnell Bazemore has been teaching the group of seven high school students to produce their own original hip-hop songs in a professional recording studio. Participating students were selected through a competitive audition process and are working in a small group to write, refine, and practice their recordings.

Limited tickets are available for the showcase and can be purchased by searching for "The Hussle or Starve Showcase" at http://www.eventbrite.com. Proceeds will help to support the High School & Hip-Hop program.

This program is part of a teaching artist residency program funded by South Central PaARTners, the regional representative of the PA Council on the Arts.
