Heritage Chorale sets concerts

Heritage Chorale of Lancaster will present its spring concert series, "Peace Like a River" - based on the work "When Peace Like a River" by composer Philip Bliss, arranged by Dale Grotonhuis.

Performances will take place on Sunday, April 27, at 4 p.m. at New Danville Mennonite Church, 103 Marticville Road, Lancaster; on Sunday, May 4, at 4 p.m. at Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Road, Lancaster; and Sunday, May 18, at 4 p.m. at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 3131 Columbia Ave., Lancaster.

The selection, chosen by artistic director Barry L. Sawyer, will include "The Ground" by Ola Gjeilo; "We Shall Walk Through the Valley in Peace," arranged by Moses Hogan; "Set Me As a Seal" by Rene Clausen; "Cantate Domino" by Hans Leo Hassler; "Zion's Walls" by Aaron Copland; and "Lullaby" by Daniel Elder, along with other ballads and songs. The accompanist is Jordan Groh.

No tickets or reservations are required. Admission is free, and a freewill offering will be accepted.

Founded in 1994, the Heritage Chorale of Lancaster is a group of singers dedicated to excellence in the choral art form. The group's repertoire spans the 16th through 21st centuries and includes both a cappella and accompanied works in various styles. The chorale presents two programs each year - one in the spring and one at Christmas - and has performed at Colonial Williamsburg, Longwood Gardens, the Washington National Cathedral, and churches and historical institutions throughout the Lancaster County area. The chorale is a volunteer, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.
