Hazardous Waste Collection Set

The York County Solid Waste Authority's (YCSWA) free residential household hazardous waste (HHW) collection program will take place on Saturday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the YCSWA's Ash Recycling and Processing Facility, 2650 Blackbridge Road, York. Household hazardous waste includes any products from the home that are corrosive, such as drain cleaners or bleach; flammable, including gasoline; reactive, such as chemistry kits; or toxic, including pesticides.

All York County homeowners or residential tenants are eligible to bring their household hazardous waste to the collection site on May 1. There is no fee to participate. Business and government entities are not eligible to participate.

Due to COVID-19 and the state's mandate to keep group gatherings to no more than 250 people, residents are now required to preregister for the event. All participants must remain in their vehicles, wear a mask, and place all HHW materials in the trunk or bed of the vehicle prior to admittance. HHW materials should not be placed in the back seat of the vehicle.

Preregistration is available by visiting http://www.eventbrite.com and searching for "York County Solid Waste Authority's Household Hazardous Waste Collection." If residents are unable to register online, they may register by calling the YCSWA at 717-845-1066.
