GSV sets programs, support groups

Garden Spot Village (GSV), 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, has posted upcoming events.

On First Friday, July 7, from 10 a.m. to noon, artisan Marie Diehl will demonstrate feather 3-D art and display her art at The Artisans Corner at Garden Spot Village. Handcrafted gifts will be available for purchase.

"Customer Service Relates to Everyone" will be presented on Thursday, July 13, at 10 a.m. in the chapel. Chris Straka will share his personal experiences with customer service. Straka is a former small business owner, sales manager, learning and development manager, and global sales consultant with businesses around the area. He serves as the director of development with For One Life, a nonprofit organization in New Holland that helps businesses, schools, churches, youth groups, and individuals to partner financially with building projects around the world. The presentation is free and open to the community.

GSV will also offer several support groups, which are free and open to the community.

Caregiver Friends in Community, for family caregivers of persons with dementia, will meet in the Concord Room at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 10.

Fellow Travelers in Community, a group for individuals noticing cognitive changes in themselves, will meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, in the theater.

Essential Tremor Friends in Community will meet on Tuesday, July 18, at 2 p.m. in the Garden Towers. It is for individuals with essential tremors and their family members and friends.

Compassionate Neighbors in Community will meet on Wednesday, July 19, at 10 a.m. in the theater; the group is for friends or family members of those experiencing cognitive challenges.

Parkinson's Friends in Community, for individuals with Parkinson's and their friends and families, will meet on Monday, July 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Garden Towers. Dawn Cage, occupational therapist with WellSpan Center for Health, will discuss the benefits of occupational therapy for people with Parkinson's.
